This is Penniman House, an old sea Captain's house located in Eastham on the Cape. I stopped there on my way to Provincetown Thursday to do a few sketches on a beautiful sunny day. Such charming architecture. I'd love to live there. Today I'm off to paint at a Garden tour in Marshfield to support the Clift Rodgers Free Library, a little gem in Marshfield Hills. Stop by if you are in the neighborhood.
Okay, I'm sitting in front of the Fundy Geological Museum which has Wi-Fi looking at email and making a post at 10 o'clock PM. The light is just leaving the sky. It was a beautiful day here. Clear and sunny with a gale wind ;) My favorite thing in the world. A breeze!
One of my favorite subjects is Days Cottages in Truro, Massachusetts. The cottages, all named after flowers were built by the Grandfather of the current owner and are famous. I remember staying here in the 70's and being totally enchanted with the place. Since then, I've had several blissful painting trips with my girlfriends. In fact, I was here with two of the girls on Sept 11th 2001 and because there is no TV or radio, was unaware of the events of that morning until about 11:30 AM. Never saw any of the TV footage until I returned home on the 15th. Just as well. This drawing is from a photo I took and cropped to fit the square format. Painting to follow.
This sweet little cottage colony in Dennisport, Massachusetts, started out as tents in a campground, circa 1940's, and morphed into charming one or two room seasonal cottages. Here I am trying to work the cloudy gray day into a marvelous painting. Didn't happen, but I had fun. The real highlight was meeting Monty the sweet bulldog, whose photo I also posted at Not Really A Cleaning Lady.
