Nizzy

After painting all that star fruit, I was warmed up enough to do this 6x8 painting of my cat Nizzy who passed November 1st. She was such a beauty. Her white fur just glowed in sunlight. She visits me in dreams. I'm going to do another one before I put this up for sale.

Star Burst 6x6

Finally, I cut the star fruit up and added the glass bowl and the knife. You can see how inspiring it is to paint the same subject over and over again. You get a feel for the structure and you've mixed the colors over and over. This is close to being finished after about 2 and a half hours getting the shapes and values right. Needs a bit more 'detail' (color spots) in the fruit and on the reflections in the bowl which is all but invisible in the set up. Today, I picked up a blue and white Oriental (fake) vase at the Flamingo Isle Flea Market in Bonita. It works beautifully with this set up. More to come.

My Stars 6x6

I wiped some of this second painting of the star fruit, but will stay with it because I like the basic structure of the painting and the drawing is good. Luckily, the "Florida" room I paint in has been like a refrigerator since I arrived in Naples, FL last week, which is helpful to my set ups. I am happily dressed in fleece and moccasins painting away in my little bubble ;) I did two paintings yesterday but I wanted to post the star fruit in order so I'm holding them back. I had a really good day so come back tomorrow and see. Better yet, click on that subscribe link and you can see it, then delete it, with no danger of blog lingering ;) Thanks to my followers, too.

Star Search 6x6

One of my neighbors gave me this beautiful Star Fruit. I think he thought I was going to eat it, but as soon as I saw it I thought "painting prop". I have another of these sketched out. Yours for $60 plus shipping if you email me.

The Raffle Tent

This is a study I have been working on from a very rough block in I did at North River Arts Festival of The Arts event. I need to practice doing crowds. I worked from a PHOTO of the block in and I've cropped my painting to show the best parts of it. Sometimes, as in this case, the details are better than the painting as a whole. Actually, they don't use the pink and white tents anymore, much to the chagrin of those of us who loved them. We have arrived in Naples and are settling in.

Lucky Seven

I'm busy packing my paints and art gear, as we leave early early Saturday AM for Naples. Hope it doesn't snow until we're well on our way. After cleaning out the fridge of props that we'll never eat, I painted this. little 4x4. Email me at wendl15@verizon.net to purchase this for $50 with free shipping.
