Commercial Street, Provincetown

This is a painting I started a few weeks ago and was finally able to get back to the few little touches it needed. I initially thought that the figures were the focal point but it looks like I really, really love the red storefront (I do). It's up to you to decide. Today's studio work ended up being a wiper but I can start it again tomorrow. Think candy.

Piano Lesson

 The James Library which is this the subject of this month's Girls Just Wanna Paint challenge, is a fabulous little gem in Norwell where we will hang our first GJWP show next month. I think we have about 80 paintings. Very exciting for us. If you're in the area please come to our opening reception on Friday, December 2 from 6-9 and meet the artists. This lovely concert hall is upstairs at the James and while I was taking photos of the room this young man came in and started his piano practice. Unfazed by moi, the paparazzi.

Nantasket Beach Sunset

 Last week I was invited to paint and dine with a gracious friend who has a seaside condo with a sunset view. SO BEAUTIFUL. Pam is an interior designer so you know her home is 'done up'. We arrived in time to have some wine and munchies and chat but soon set up to catch (and I do mean catch) the sun setting. I was only able to get in a few color notes before the show was over but I had photos and have finished it from those. I will take another crack at this in a larger format now that I've gotten the composition and some color harmony worked out because I think I could loosen it up just a bit. To the left is the main boulevard with the lights of passing cars and street lights. Pam served us some fabulous food and we had a great night laughing and talking all things art.

Oh Canada

I spotted this kayaker in Naples this winter and knew I would have to post a painting of him today in honor of our friends, relatives and neighbors to the North. Today is Canada Day, formerly known as Dominion Day. This is also going up on Girls Just Wanna Paint as the subject for this month's theme, 'foreign'. Take a look at what the girls have posted. Happy 4th to all of us here in America the beautiful.

I have a new setup and some new lighting angles for my still lifes. Also, I use tissue paper for many of my backgrounds. I also have a new camera and am having a hard time getting good photos. It's time to read the book :( The color in this painting is much better than this photo shows. 

Bennett's General Store

This is an iconic scene here in Duxbury, Massachusetts. In the winter this jeep wears a hardtop roof. Lettered onto the sides of the Jeep are the items the store carries. Ice cold beer, Wine, Spirits, Deli, Subs, Breakfast and Sandwiches. I don't think I've ever seen a painting of it. Am I the first?

It was a beautiful day in Parrsboro today after days of fog and rain. We took a ride "down shore" to Advocate. Fantastic landscape along winding roads with vistas of towering cliffs over the Bay of Fundy. Spectacular! 

Toward Provincetown

When you drive to Provincetown, instead of taking Rte. 6 all the way in, the better route is 6A which runs along the shoreline and brings you in through the picturesque East End. This painting is from the exact point where you come over the hill and get your first glimpse across the Bay to Provincetown . Every time I see this view it's like it's the first time. Wonder why I'm painting Cape Cod when I'm in Nova Scotia?

Okay, I'm sitting in front of the Fundy Geological Museum which has Wi-Fi looking at email and making a post at 10 o'clock PM. The light is just leaving the sky. It was a beautiful day here. Clear and sunny with a gale wind ;) My favorite thing in the world. A breeze!
