Provincetown

Here is my fabulous Trap Shed in Provincetown and a beautiful night shot. We are having a great time but my expectations for sales at the shed have not been met. Luckily my shed mate and I are birds of a feather in many ways including our 'dark' humor. We've been blessed with a good breeze which was more of a gale today and a beautiful view no matter how you cut it. My bother Lenny is also in town with his girlfriend Kathi and their dog Chandler so we've been busy eating out and drinking at the Old Colony Tap and people watching. Life is good. Provincetown Shed

 Truro Gem 12x12

I've painted this iconic Truro cottage before because it is just too cool. This is one of the paintings I will be showing in my upcoming "Shed Show" on MacMillan Wharf in Provincetown. In addition to a great selection of paintings, including my daily 6x6 blog paintings I've also done up a selection of cards and matted prints of my work in various (easy to frame) standard sizes ;)

Beach Point Morning

This is from a photo I took at Beach Point in Truro one morning in the late summer. Really, the light is more golden than I painted it in this watercolor, but I think I'll try it in oil and give it more of the mood I first felt there. The tide is low and the boats are all lying on the sand.

Our challenge subject for Girls Just Wanna Paint  is 'three'. I kept thinking literally, three flowers, three jars, three lipsticks etc., but while I was painting this I noticed something. This old fashioned summer cottage sports three old fashioned Victorian Shutters. Sly? Yup, but it works. Going to the Dogs

 

Provincetown is known  to be one of, if not THE most dog friendly town on the planet. I encountered these two in a Provincetown gallery last summer. Wonder what the dog thinks.

When you drive to Provincetown, instead of taking Rte. 6 all the way in, the better route is 6A which runs along the shoreline and brings you in through the picturesque East End. This painting is from the exact point where you come over the hill and get your first glimpse across the Bay to Provincetown . Every time I see this view it's like it's the first time. Wonder why I'm painting Cape Cod when I'm in Nova Scotia?
