Studio Workshops and Stay 'cation'

I've said it before but we are having the most wonderful weather this summer. Today was warm but the humidity was low and the breeze is brisk ;)

Spent the day weeding the garden, sitting on the deck and enjoying  life.

I plan to teach a couple of workshops this September and will vary the lessons. This particular painting was not painted from a photo but if it were, I would interpret it this way and that is the lesson. The demo is just an example of the process.

Fire Light

I've been wanting to do a nocturne (night painting) but procrastinated in my usual fashion until this month's GJWP challenge which was FIRE. I knew I wanted to paint this scene of Joanie reading by the fire from our trip to Parrsboro a few years ago. The half moon was hanging over the Bay of Fundy and the pink of the setting sun was upon the horizon. That was a memorable trip. Click on the buy link beneath the painting to purchase.

On our recent trip to Nova Scotia we visited That Dutchman's Cheese Farm in Upper Economy. It sits high on a hill overlooking the Bay of Fundy and they have walking trails and an array of animals including chickens, roosters, turkeys, emus and even peacocks! Fabulous. We watched them make the cheese and of course sampled some and came home with a few wedges. It is a blissful place.

This painting is for the Girls Just Wanna Paint monthly challenge the theme of which is Fin, Fur or Feather. This fabulous white rooster had all the hens chasing after HIM!!
