"Monhegan Study"
5x9 watercolor
Spending a few glorious days on Monhegan Island with my painter friend Bobbi Heath. We ate a fabulous meal at the Island Inn where not only did they allow us to split an entree, they plated it separately as well and we walked home enjoying the spectacular starry sky, which is so much more dramatic way out here.
I did this little study of Manana and the harbor from the sitting area just outside my top floor 'garret' at Monhegan house. I have always wanted a garret! Life is good ;)

Love this unique angle on Manana! (you know I have an obsession with that rocky wonder.) Love it - thanks for making MY day.
Good morning Mary!... Your treatment of this piece lives up to my hopes and dreams... whenever I add Monhegan Island to my "Bucket List".
Your spectacular use of aerial perspective and fresh ... strategically placed brush strokes of colour make this one a gem Mary! One of my favourites!
Enjoy your visit and...Further Good Painting!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
Looks like a dream come true! Dreamy painting.... I'm so glad you went!
Seriously, I don't know which I envy you more, your painting or your stay in a garret.
Lovely! I will have to get over to Monhegan sometime soon. It's not that far from me in the grand scheme of things. I just don't know if I can take the boat ride.
Such a wispy and free feeling watercolor, Mary! And I just want to crawl right into that bed!
Lorna said pretty much everything I was going to say :-) Looks soooooo cozy!!!
I so love Monhegan Island! This painting is so well done! I love the way you left much of the surface looking almost "unpainted!" This scene brings back many great memories of my times there! I love everything about the island. I love the ocean so much! Especially our wonderful New England and Canadian Atlantic Coast!
Another treasure Mary!
Take care!
Bring on the fall!!!

Nice study, Mary - I particularly like that gray side of the building in the front - 'Art by Michael Perchard,' you have to tell me all about your stays there - I've never been!
