Summer Days

Partridge Island
SOLD
It's only been a week? I thought it was longer and was feeling tres guilty about slacking :D  Anyway, I was able to work through the rust and do this painting of summer in Parrsboro for our GirlsJustWannaPaint challenge which goes up tonight. It's summer here and tomorrow the tide will be perfect for a full day at the beach. That's where you'll find me.

Gorgeous blues and greens, so indicative of the peaceful sense of water. Lovely work, Mary.

I begin my greens with Thalo Blue or Prussian Blue (any yellow leaning blue) and Cad Yellow Lt or Lemon or Hansa. This makes a very strong bluey green or yellowy green. I add reds to the various greens as I paint to both, gray the green and to neutralize the intensity of the green. Thus, it reads like a variety of greens as you'd see in nature.
I also, add little specks of reds/purples to create color vibration within the green, keeping it alive.

This really speaks to me of place, love your brushstrokes in foreground and that lovely bit of ocean. Want to be there!

Love the variety of colors in this painting...the brighter yellow-y greens int eh foreground and the blues in the background. And the aqua of the water beyond the land. All wonderful.

It's fun to see what you used to mix greens. Thalo blue is so strong, I tend not to use it much. I usually start with ultramarine blue and yellow ochre. It makes a wonderful green with an olive cast.

Yikes! I love this! Glad someone else paints those intense greens. Works well--hope you're enjoying the summer--don't feel guilty.

This is so beautiful, and so peaceful. I love the contrast between the rich bright foreground and the gentle almost pastel distant islands.
