Nizzy
After painting all that star fruit, I was warmed up enough to do this 6x8 painting of my cat Nizzy who passed November 1st. She was such a beauty. Her white fur just glowed in sunlight. She visits me in dreams. I'm going to do another one before I put this up for sale.

Isn't she lovely. Be sure and keep one of her portraits for yourself.
She looks soooo soft and tranquil, I feel like I'm going to doze off to sleep, just looking at that face of hers. I'm so happy she visits you still! I absolutely believe in that. Great painting, Mary. Also thanks for coming to visit my blog and having such nice things to say. Made my day!
Mary, I am in love with this painting!! All the bits of color in her coat... I hope to one day be freer with color use in my paintings. Anyway it looks just like the photo you posted some time ago. And I just love that she is visiting you in your dreams... soul connetions stay with you.
Mary, you definitely captured Nizzy's glow in this painting. it's wonderful! Holly
A very special painting, Mary! Nizzy looks like a lovely kitty,my condolences on your loss. (I'm glad that she still visits you.)
I have been visiting you for a while now- and have to say that I love the color you put into your paintings.
I am sorry about Nizzy's passing.

ohhhhh even larger, even more wonderful. The contrasts, the shadows, the colors, the look on the cat, all fantastic...yup..this is my fave..
Mary- I remember you mentioning Nizzy in previous posts. Add a tear of mine to the many I'm sure you've let slip from your eyes.
What you've done to represent white is so very very good. I'd have to agree that this is one of your stronger pieces. Nizzy feels the love.
When Nini and I were looking at this painting, she commented that this is clearly by someone who really knows her cat! I completely agree...and Nizzy would too. I'm glad she still visits you. Such a beautiful cat and beautiful painting!
This is amazing...you painted it beautifully. I love the way the underpainting shows through...and of course, Nizzy looks beautiful lazing in the sun, like any cat should!
Nizzy! What a lovely name for a cat. I'm so sorry you have lost her...but you have this incredible painting, I think it is my all time favorite! You need to keep this one, it's so special.
Nizzy is beautiful. Bless her, and you for commemorating her like this. I'm glad she visits you in your dreams. I agree, keep this one for yourself.
Hi, What a lovely kitty! She looks so serene and comfortable in the sunlight. Beautiful job!
Mary, hi

Can I just say this is PURRfect? Nizzy in all her glory. Beautiful rendition of the whites. xoxo
Beautiful--again, the great colors and raking light: love it. Sorry about Nizzy! I lost one of mine recently too: Carlos, who was 16, in October. I still look for him and can see him looking at me!
Mary, some paintings rise above the rest because in my opinion they have what I refer to as "soul". This is one of them. Lovely painting!

I hope the visits bring you peace.
Hi Mary - I saw you on Kelley's blog. What a beautiful painting of Nizzy, I'm so sorry you lost your little one but so glad she visits you in your dreams. I lost my Winnie Wiggles a year ago this month, and just finished her painting last week. It felt good to get her onto canvas. I hope Nizzy's portrait gives you comfort.
I am so pleased by all these heartfelt comments. In a way, I think she channeled herself onto the canvas. I know that face so well.
I am not steeped in sadness either. She lived long and well and she still visits me in dreams. What more could I ask for?
This is beautiful, Mary. Wonderful use of color.
What a beauty. Beautiful painting.

This is lovely, I know it was a work of love for you.
It's a beautiful painting and your love for this beautiful cat is very apparent.
The colors in her fur are just beautiful. And that bright spot of white dazzles. Wonderful painting!
It's a striking, magical portrait of dear Nizzy. I'm so sorry for the loss of your family member.
