Nizzy

After painting all that star fruit, I was warmed up enough to do this 6x8 painting of my cat Nizzy who passed November 1st. She was such a beauty. Her white fur just glowed in sunlight. She visits me in dreams. I'm going to do another one before I put this up for sale.

She looks soooo soft and tranquil, I feel like I'm going to doze off to sleep, just looking at that face of hers. I'm so happy she visits you still! I absolutely believe in that. Great painting, Mary. Also thanks for coming to visit my blog and having such nice things to say. Made my day!

Mary, I am in love with this painting!! All the bits of color in her coat... I hope to one day be freer with color use in my paintings. Anyway it looks just like the photo you posted some time ago. And I just love that she is visiting you in your dreams... soul connetions stay with you.

Mary- I remember you mentioning Nizzy in previous posts. Add a tear of mine to the many I'm sure you've let slip from your eyes.

What you've done to represent white is so very very good. I'd have to agree that this is one of your stronger pieces. Nizzy feels the love.

When Nini and I were looking at this painting, she commented that this is clearly by someone who really knows her cat! I completely agree...and Nizzy would too. I'm glad she still visits you. Such a beautiful cat and beautiful painting!

Beautiful--again, the great colors and raking light: love it. Sorry about Nizzy! I lost one of mine recently too: Carlos, who was 16, in October. I still look for him and can see him looking at me!

Mary, some paintings rise above the rest because in my opinion they have what I refer to as "soul". This is one of them. Lovely painting!

Jeffrey

I hope the visits bring you peace.

Hi Mary - I saw you on Kelley's blog. What a beautiful painting of Nizzy, I'm so sorry you lost your little one but so glad she visits you in your dreams. I lost my Winnie Wiggles a year ago this month, and just finished her painting last week. It felt good to get her onto canvas. I hope Nizzy's portrait gives you comfort.

I am so pleased by all these heartfelt comments. In a way, I think she channeled herself onto the canvas. I know that face so well.
I am not steeped in sadness either. She lived long and well and she still visits me in dreams. What more could I ask for?
