Joy's Cottage 8x10
This cottage belonged to 3 sisters, one of whom died two summers ago. Her name was Joy and everyone who knew her said her name described her perfectly. I think of her spirit being here when I paint this little cottage.
I will mention also, that the photo does not do justice. Like reproductions in art books, the computer monitor doesn't give the depth of seeing the real painting and some works photograph better than others. I need to tweak this just a touch, but for now it's up for all to see.

Oh Mary, what a wonderful place to paint...love the mood and atmosphere ie. the "light"!! Can't wait to see what else you do!
This is beautiful Mary! I've really enjoyed looking through your blog this morning - you do great work and have inspired me for a day of painting:)
Keep those brushes flying,
Shelley
I could imagine spending a lot of time sitting around in there and enjoying leisure reading.
very nice job.
Very evocative, moody and ethereal.
Lovely!
Mary, you rock. I have seen this piece and can totally vouch that it's even better in person. Now.. Mary, don't 'Joan' it! :)
love it!!
