Imagination GJWP

"Imagination"
6x8 paper, paint and rhinestone collage

I am struggling mightily with artist's block this winter.
I have also been working in some different mediums and trying to go in a new direction but, it is taking time.
This paper collage is one of the ways I've been using my "Imagination", which is the Girls Just Wanna Paint challenge theme this month, to find my way.
I started with a piece of watercolor paper that I'd done some random painting on. The verse is from a calendar that I was throwing way but, when I noticed the verses, I cut them all out and added them to my collage files and I drew the dragonfly, glued it onto the paper and embellished it with rhinestones.
I actually first used the dragonfly, in 2012 in a collage piece for the Outside The Box, show given by North River Arts Society. It holds special meaning for me and I will be using it often in my upcoming work.
Stay tuned.

Sitting on Top of the World

"Sitting on Top of the World"
8x8 paper and paint collage

This collage is my take on "Chair" for the
Girls Just Wanna Paint
challenge.
I thought I was on this but after several attempts I resorted to cutting out the chair working with the stamps again. I love working with the sheet music.
My New Years resolution is to not procrastinate.
We'll see how that goes as it's in my DNA.

Celebration

"Celebration"
8x8 paper collage on birch panel

On my trip to Utrecht art supply last week, I accidentally ended up in the paper department and could not resist this beautiful sheet of handmade paper with all kinds of organic material embedded in it. I used it as the backdrop for my Girls Just Wanna Paint monthly challenge piece, "celebration".
I  also chose the dragonfly paper in teal and black and ended up cutting them out and decoupaging them into the composition along with Christmas sheet music printed off the internet. I completed the piece using stamps in red, gold, silver and copper.
It was great fun and I wish all of you a wonderful Christmas Season in which ever way you celebrate.
I am fortunate.

Interpreting Water with Collage

"Water"
6x6 paper collage

My interpretation of "water", for the September, Girls Just Wanna Paint challenge is a collage of the ocean, beginning with the sandy shoreline, made from Color Aid paper.
I've had this exquisite block of paper since I went to New England School of Art many moons ago and have barely used it because its chronological array of colors and hues is breathtakingly beautiful.
A reason to save it forever, right?
No.
