December Marsh, Green Harbor

Green Harbor Sunset
5x5 oil on panel

I'm busily painting a couple of commissions and needed to prime the pump before working on larger paintings so, I painted this little sunset down by Green Harbor.
It wasn't that cold today and it felt great to be outside!

By the way. Don't miss the North River Arts Holiday Sale going on all week at the GAR Hall at 157 Old Main Street in Marshfield. They have gone all out as always, beautifully arranging the art and artisan work. I have a bin with some serious bargains there!

Bird's Eye View

"Bird's Eye View" 6x6 oil on panel

I like to drive out over the beach road between Marshfield and Duxbury and paint or take photos. Part ocean beach, part tidal marsh, there's always lots of action there and the view includes Powder Point Bridge and the Myles Standish Monument as well as distant views of Plymouth.
For this little painting I combined the birds from different photos flying toward the distant marsh.
It also sparked an idea which I'd had (and then it eluded me) for a 24x24 canvas that is toned and has been waiting in the studio. I had hit upon an idea and didn't really ruminate on it long enough to 'set' it and it evaporated, but when I began painting this, I remembered that it was about birds. I made a solid start and just need to bring it to completion. So....stay tuned.

Rexhame Beach Dunes Study 7X9

SOLD
I consider this more of a study than a finished work. Using the limited palette gives it nice color harmony.

Festival of The Arts

I was pleasantly surprised to see that my painting was hung on the entry wall at the annual North River Arts Society juried show. Thanks David ;) This is a wonderful event in it's thirty first year due to a dedicated volunteer staff. It encompasses art, music, dance, poetry, crafts and horticulture and takes place on Old Main Street in Marshfield Hills Village each Memorial Day Weekend. GO! Also, I will be at the Beacon Hill Art Walk next Sunday with a many other artists. Come on over and see me.
