Our 20th!! Annual Open Studios was a great success!
The good news is if you weren't able to attend you have the next few Saturdays to make it up to yourself. I will be keeping my Studio open to visitors up until Christmas on a drop in or call ahead basis. My black Subaru Outback will be parked nearest to the street with balloons tied to the roof racks and I will have refreshments for all, after that climb to the 4th Floor! Hours will be 12-5.
In other news- I'm delighted to have received a critique from Tony Moffitt on his Artist.Blog.Critique which you can read in it's entirety here. Getting an objective critique is SO VALUABLE and for those who have been waiting for the new blog template I promised you, well..he thinks it would be a good idea too ;)

Wow! You have such a great, and neat (as in clean) studio!
Love your studio! Very cozy and inviting. I'm getting ready for a holiday open house myself on Dec. 3rd & 4th. The balloons are a great idea!!
Best of Luck!!
Congradulations, Mary!!! Your studio looks so warm and welcoming.
Love seeing your studio space! Always fun to then imagine my art friends just toiling away painting day and night:)
Tony's critiques are wonderful and informative- Agree good to get an objective look at our blogs.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Awesome critique, Mary! And she's right, your paintings are so vibrant and energetic. Congratulations! And I love the studio too...
Your studio looked fabulous, and your art really did shine!
As to the critique - I don't think Tony Moffitt is the 'last word'. Seriously? Who IS he to say 'all galleries have white walls (yes, I spent the $2 to hear his wisdom)? As a matter of fact, they don't. Many, many galleries have gray, beige or dark neutral walls. Or they change the color of their walls with the year/season. Call me a bi-ach, but I don't know why this one person sets himself up as an expert and goes around praising or dissing blogs. I LIKE to hear a little about the artist's life in each post, and I have probably 50 emails from followers who write to me privately that tell me the same thing. And they are buyers. So..... grain of salt, girl... except right on the money that your work is awesome, and I don't see the style issues....
Your studio is LOVELY! Xoxo Chrissie
I love seeing images of other peoples' studios. Your studio looks great. I love the size and how neat and organized it looks.
Kelley, have I told you lately that I love you?
The ONLY real problem I have with the black background is that when it goes out in email the light type that you must use on black is hard to read.
I HAVE been thinking of changing it to a light backgrounds with a painting image in the header like Carol has. Just don't know how to do that yet.
Plus, I love my thumbnail links and I don't think my sidebar is confusing at all I'm keeping all of that :D
And you're right about the personal touch. People like that and after all, you are all my friends and you wanna KNOW!!
:D
looks great!! love your work and style. I'm heading over to read the critique now!
Hi glad to hear of your success. Just stopped by to say Happy Thanksgiving. Have a great day.
Happy thanksgiving Mary! Oh my, I adore your studio - so inviting, well worth the climb! I also agree with Kelley, I love insight into an artist's personal life - pets, fleas, children... it's all part of the package of who we are! It helps us get to know each other! I would also argue it helps us to understand the artwork, the more we get to know the artist and where they're coming from!
What a gorgeous studio!! Easy to see how you stay inspired, dear Mary! And I was thinking the same thing as Kelley's second sentence.
what an amazing studio!!! WOW!!!!
