Beach Point Sunset 8x8

Beach Point Sunset
8x8 oil on panel
SOLD

It doesn't seem possible for a sunset to be so bright or so colorful but trust me....I was there. This was done from a photo I took from Beach Point in Truro on September 14, 2001. There's a story there but you've all heard it so I won't repeat myself. I did three paintings today and this was the only one that I liked ;) One point I'd make is that the blue in the water photographed much brighter than it actually appears in the painting. Thank you all so much for your comments and visits. It's what makes blogging so much fun!!

Mary,
This is beautiful. I believe the water is that wonderful color. When Dave and I were down in Palm Beach I kept poking him at the rich gorgeous Pthalo Blue of the water and then the Ult. Blue of the sky! Sometimes we are just lucky enough to catch it! I love the reflections in the water that you painted. Wonderful:)

Lovely, lovely. Ah... Truro. Wish that I were there on the beach now! Though, God knows, in my current state, I couldn't go far. Next time your out that way, stop into my friend, Marshall's Wellfleet Marketplace.

Have you ever looked at something incredibly (literally) beautiful and thought, "I'd paint this, but no one would believe it"? None the less, we've been trying since we had charcoal and a cave wall. It's called art.

Mull this one over: do you think any other species tries?

Well doll you just took sunset (sunrise?) to anew level. This just really pops and the brushstrokes are juicy and lively. Terrific! What a beautiful and calming statement during such a turbulent time.

I just had to comment on this. I saw it on my dashboard and immediately came to your site just to tell you that this painting is breathtaking. I love the color values and plays on light. Admittedly, I haven't been doing as much painting lately (lots of reading!), but you have helped inspire my next piece. :)

Mary, reminds me of the sunsets in Hawaii. The colors are gorgeous and the paint shimmers just like sunset on the water! Great painting.

Beautiful work, Mary. Your Cape Cod scenes bring back memories of a wonderful vacation we took when my children were little. You've pretty much convinced me I need to go back.
