Coffee Break

My husband and I often muse aloud that we wish we'd started a coffee shop (gold mine) ;) Who knew that people would leave their homes in the early morning to go out and buy coffee at $2-$3 per cup and furthermore would continue to refuel all day long at the ubiquitous Dunkin' Donuts and Starbuck's coffee shops that have sprung up everywhere. Starbuck's keeps their coffee drinkers on site by offering WiFi and  den like shops with reading material, comfy chairs and nice lighting. Marketing genius. We have our own little gem in Marshfield called the Coffee Shack which has the best glazed jelly donuts in the world. This is my submission for my rockin' Girls Just Wanna Paint blog. Check out our magazine article over there.

Yes, Mary, why is it so nice to take to the streets and have a coffee away from home? Lovely painting, it was a surprise the first time I came across American coffee in disposable cups. Here a coffee shop is still about the decor and the crockery, cotton serviettes and cake forks. Now that I have visited the States a lot, I Dunkin D and Starbucks out there with everyone else and enjoy it!

Hi Mary,
I really like your paintings. Thanks for the comment on my brand new daily painting blog-kind of ironic, you posted coffee and I posted tea. I am really hoping to
improve my work rapidly by doing the daily paintings.
Just subscribed to your blog-I'm sure I will enjoy and be inspired by it.
My mother was from Worcester and I still have quite a few cousins in MA that I see in the summer when I come to Maine.

Mmmmmm... Coffee Shack Jellies! Which then brings to mind fried clams for lunch at that wonderful restaurant you take us to in Green Harbor :) Course I don't supposed fried clams make for a great painting lol but yours of the coffee is wonderful! Every Starbucks should have a print of this!

Yes, where is my jelly donut, please?

Just kidding - finding your blog is a treat in itslef, and thanks for the visit to mine.

I lived in Seattle when the Starbucks (and Microsoft) businesses started. The stories I could tell. I did love the way they do their coffee in Italy, however. It is an event.

I love your painting, but I dont know if you can use the "Starbucks" name if you are going to sell the painting, I remember someone who used the Walt Disney word and figures and of course Walt Disney sued them... "Starbucks" is a trade name so please check with an attorney, I would hate for you to get in trouble. Anyway I still like what you do.

Mary, Thank you for coming by Levonne's Pretty Pics and leaving a message for me. I love photography and I wish I had your talent to move it from photo to a painting or sketch. Take care...

I am a stranger in a strange land; I don't drink coffee. But, as you know, I do like a bit of chocolate now and then. It's my preferred caffeine delivery system. Your madeleine, all shiny from skinny-dipping in chocolate, makes me...
'Scuse me... I've got to go get me a square!
