Kelley's Jellies

Yesterday I called Kelley, the Queen of jellies and asked her if I could paint jelly donuts and she said, "of course you can, I don't own jellies." But she is kind of famous for her paintings of donuts. Anyway, these are GLAZED jellies from a local shop called The Coffee Shack and believe me when I tell you they put the Giant Donut chain's mass produced product (which used to be great) to shame. When Kelley came to stay in my neighborhood a few weeks back I steered her towards this place and she hasn't looked back. These are to die for. Seriously.

Yeah...what happened to the chain donuts...are we just used to eating them or have they cut a couple of corners? Enquiring minds want to know! I do still like Honey Dews though....love your brush strokes and colors...

The chain which used to be the real deal has to make a zillion of these things every day and truck them to their stores. I don't know if any of the stores are into the 'time to make the donuts', scenario any more. And, it shows in their product.
This little shop makes them fresh, daily and they are fantastic.

Nope. The Donut Girl is telling you - it's only "Time to make the donuts" at a central donut baking location, and they are trucked in to each shop! That's why you should never, ever plan on buying a donut past noon at DD's - they're all stale, sweating and slippery or hard.

In my next life I will run a donut shop and every one will be sublime! Like Mary's painting....

What great jellies and the color is wonderful. Makes me want to race right over there.

You and Kelley are just killin' me. I'm trying to catch up on all my favorite blogs this morning and between the two of you all I can think about is donuts!

This is beautiful and I love the background colors.
