In my usual fashion, I was late for the "virtual" cocktail party that
my friend Kelley held over at her blog. No matter, I'm publishing my
drink here.
Last night I cooked a corned beef dinner for my hubby's cousin and her
artist husband. Despite my misgivings about my circa 1987 electric
stove, I managed to regulate the burner so as not to boil the thing to
death. It was excellent and we had a great time. He is a watercolor
artist so he and I just yammer on about art while his wife and my
husband yammer on about their family history. It works quite well.

love it!
Did you drink this as you cooked the meal- and yammered?
Love this--the brilliant pink against the green, the olives in the glass have a wonderful abstract quality, and I love that little hint of pink in the glass-- It is clear you had fun painting it.

yummmmmmm... this delicious little study makes me crave a martini ;-)
Well, I think you should send it to me and I'll upload it. It's fabulous. And, Jennifer, I'll join you in one! Mmmm....
Mary, this is great! As a graphic designer, I always appreciate work like this. Whether you were aware of the rules of design or not you hit a few key points. Entering from the left hand corner; that dragonfly makes a wonderful suttle statement pointing to the white cat who reads as the focus of the design due to the contrast... and the "s" shape of the road brings you through the whole painting like a map. Nice bold shapes....my past design professors would be proud!

mmm i can smell the gin, or is it vodka and i can taste the olives!
Mary, what a fun painting, and beautifully done! The colors are great, and it makes me thirsty for a martini even though I don't like them!
I think this is incredibly beautiful even if you were late for the party!
