The hardest part of this painting was the rim of the clear glass plate. In reality it is a bright and very distinct hard line. I had to balance it with value and break it up so it didn't dominate the painting. Today was a beautiful rainy day. Monsoon like. I spent the day in the studio and later this evening I picked up my Sister and my Mama on the way to a family party at my niece's house, where we turned on the festival lighting aka Christmas Lights :D and had a great time!

I love the idea of festive lights---I could always find something to be festive about, and I have a small but recognizable affinity to anything that glitters.
which brings me to this translucent painting. I so admire your ability.
Good idea to break up the hard white line, and you did it with such pretty color! Ellipses. The bane of my existence. I so wish you were here, girlfriend - SOON! So happy you had a festive evening!
You did an excellent job with all of it, but the rim is my favorite part. You made a difficult task look easy!
wonderfully beautiful and gorgeous!!!
Wonderful colors in this piece, love how painterly it is.
Beautiful piece. I love this painting. Great job with the clear plate, especially.
Paz
really rich color, lovely painting...and I love the dot of fushia pink on the rim of the glass at the approx. one o'clock position!
You did a fine job with this, Mary - Very beautiful.
This has a Florida heat to it. Lovely. We are definitely having a monsson here today.
Sweet! And you did an excellent job on that rim!
This piece starts with solid draftsmanship and composition- good perspective, cropping, and depth of field. Then color and brushwork reveal playful abstraction and an engaging liveliness. I love it!
Awesome! One of my favorite!
This is beautiful Mary, I love the palette!
Cool!!
Such lovely strokes! I love the colors reflected in the glass plate. Really well done!
