Oh Mary, even though I have no idea what a banyan tree is, I'm in love
Mary, this Banyan series is very cool--luscious paint and interesting variations.
I like the design and paint handling in this one Mary. Another good take on the banyan tree.
I agree with your thoughts on the greens though.
Hi Mary, your Banyan tree paintings are very interesting and complex I think. Its very hard to get a "close up" to look understandable without fuss or over simplification in nature but you have managed it here. Its also interesting to hear your colour mixes. I have also gone back to ultramarine as a base for mixing darks. I mix it with burnt umber or a combination of burnt umber and dioxazine purple. I used to use a lot of Paynes Gray but it seems to "flatten" the colour somehow. Have you ever tried it? Great success with your greens so far. I think they are the most difficult of all colours to mix. I'm terrified of green landscapes and love to see when others have succeeded!
Your colors are beautiful!!!
