Today, rdl and I went to the MFA to see the Edward Hopper show. Just glorious. We had a great day, having a bite to eat in the Cafeteria and lingering to see other areas of the Museum. Taking it all in. I think we could say we were awestruck.
Here is another photo of my last painting under warm studio light. Notice how lighting affects the colors. I need to photograph this outside on a bright overcast day to get the most true color and no glare.

Hydrangeas and Black Eyed Susans
Today, rdl and I went to the MFA to see the Edward Hopper show. Just glorious. We had a great day, having a bite to eat in the Cafeteria and lingering to see other areas of the Museum. Taking it all in. I think we could say we were awestruck.

Thanks Mary, for posting this painting both in progress and the final; I love viewing how a work builds. Both are lovely, and I agree, the Hopper show was magnificent and motivating. Paint on!
Mare, yes it was Wonderful and i said the same thing in my post(still in drafts) about it - awestruck! Thank you, Thank you, thank you!!!! and yes this picture of your lovely painting looks way better. so jealous of you artists - guess that's why i have so many of you as friends - i can admire you and your work up close and personal. :D
Wow! The color difference is amazing ... and i've been away from Just Painting for waaay to long! Great postings, beautiful artwork. Saying goodbye to people, places, things you love ... just plain stinks :(

As Lulabelle said, WOW! The contrasting colors and the rich darks make this one really pop.
I am jealous... Edward Hopper is one of my favorite artist.
I love the idea of you and RDL at the MFA; we have Rneoir at the National Gallery, but I'm not drawn to it. Maybe I need to go with a visual artist....
A good photo is worth a thousand words... I love this painting, it's so happy.
Fantastic... i love the richness in the shadows. I went to the MFA today but the Hopper show was sold out! I'll try again this weekend I guess...
Mary - I wasn't paying attention and posted my comment on the other post. But I still love this painting - and as I already said before, what I'm really attracted to is the play of light. This is great!
