Lemons on Black 2.5x3.5

This painting is 2.5x3.5 on masonite. I've attached saw tooth hangers to the back of these miniatures and finished the sides so there's no need to frame. Although I do try to keep important elements of the work away from the edges, sometimes small paintings lose something when they are 'cropped' by the frame.

Lemons on black are so appealing to me - and hard to do - what the heck color is 'dark' yellow? You nailed it, again. Great piece.

I am so glad to get your feedback on this piece. I did it from a sketch I made before I bought the lemons.($4.50) The clear bowl of lemons was setup but the loose lemons are added for balance and interest.
I was afraid the background, being sort of undefined would be a problem for the viewer.
It did feel solid to me though.
Dark yellow is a combo of these colors. My dark is a mixture of ultramarine, thalo green and rose madder. Which makes a great transparent dark. I used some wipe out technique to get the clear glass bowl and I used cad yellow and cad yellow light for the lemons working back and forth using that dark mix for all the darks, thus the dark yellows.

Thank you so much for your vote of confidence! Your paintings rock!
