Our recent trip to the Southwest was a sensory overload. We visited Sedona, Jerome and the Grand Canyon. I'm bravely posting this 8x8 study of the desert landscape from a photo I shot from the car. The photo is poor but I'm getting some nice color here. The painting is much lighter than it is showing. What I'm going to do is open a book and see how someone else might have handled this subject. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, which ever way you celebrate.

Rock On
I bought this wooden rocking horse at Christmas Tree Shops for less than $5. This New England based chain of shops are a minefield of tchotchkes (dust collectors) from the sublime to the cheaply ridiculous, as well as a legit place to shop for a myriad of household/kitchen/picture frames/candles and similar items. Mostly though, you don't need to go there. Invariably, when I meet people who have visited the Boston/Cape Cod neck of the woods, what do you think they rave about? The History? The dunes on the Cape? Nope. They go on and on about what they bought at the Christmas Tree Shop.
Don't you just love a bargain ; )
Stay tuned here, I have been tagged by Vicki Shuck, a versatile painter from the Pacific Northwest and I have some interesting new blogs to link. Check her out.
