Wiper or Study

I tell people that every painting cannot be fabulous and that there are lessons to be learned from each one. So, Instead of being so quick to wipe this off I'll add it to the lesson pile and try again.

OK, you're being TOO much of a perfectionist - NO WIPING here! I love the close values, and the rich color. Do. Not. Wipe. This.

Don't touch that dial!(ha)
Mary this is a beautiful painting.
The color is deep and rich.
The composition is excellent!
Set it aside and move on. Then when you revisit it with fresh eyes
you can "tweek" as desired.
(I like it as is, personally)

You are right, Mary. Long time no see...but I'm so glad I'm looking now because purple is my very favorite color and this little study is just perfect! It seems as though you have a new boldness to your work. I love it!

I need to take my own advice and 'silence the inner critic'.
Thank You all.

Mary, you have so gotten the depth of the box. I love that! And such rich colors. This is a little gem.

At least a study, not a wiper.
Unusual perspective, rich color, good values, you pulled it off well, I'd say.

That "inner critic" keeps us pushing to be better and better. And you're so right that not every painting can be fabulous. I guess we all paint a dog now and then.... which this one is NOT!!
