Onion Shadows

I was trying to for a tonal effect here, but the color found its way in anyway. Neutral seems to elude me. Next vegetable on the model stand..... come back and see.

Hi Mary,
To answer your question from the comment you left on my blog..the workshop was with Susan Abbott, who you mention in your previous post! It was great. Thanks for visiting. Take Care.

Beautiful! Nice subject placement, and I actually LOVE the balance between the neutral and the vivid here. I especially like the colorful glow on the underside of the onion in the background.

And thanks for introducing Susan Abbott in your last post ... I really enjoyed seeing her work!

This one is just superb. Lovely composition, wonderful shadows (love the color in there), it is tonal, but just enough color to make it sing. And the tail on the front onion, I just want to grab it and swing. Strong stuff, Mary!!

Your use of neutrals in this painting makes your strong color even more beautiful. Nice.

Love the colors and shadows - they remind me of shallots.

I can certainly identify with you on "trying for neutral and color finding it's way in". This piece is beautiful, Mary!
