Fabulous Fakes

There's a Gallery in Newport, RI that does a show called Fabulous Fakes. Looks like I might just have an entry. This was a great lesson and rather enjoyable to paint. I think I'll get out my Sedona photos and my Edgar Payne book. I'm taking breaks to lie down on the floor and do some stretching of my shoulders and back.

Really like these woodland scenes. A little different for you.
Lying on the floor really helps

This is gorgeous! Love that deep red and the chopped vertical of the trees. The light area is wonderful. I like the way the loose strokes carry the eye across and down the hill.

Gwen,
this is why Carlson was a master. He didn't get hung up in the details. His pictures were structured properly to lead the eye. All very strong.
I'm going to do another from my own photos of birches in the woods.

This is great - it's called "Fakes And Forgeries" at the Spring Bull Gallery on Belleview Ave - usually in the early part of the year. I'll keep my eye out and submit for you if you want...

Like this piece a lot Mary! I'm sure it will do well in the show.
However you won't be able to fake the honesty of this painting...
=;-))
