Provincetown Kite Store 12x12

I've always wanted to paint the kite store but it was as scary as the mums ;) This was supposed to be my entry for the PAAM 12x12 auction but since it was still wet I opted for the Spider Mums. My new Princeton 6300 brights are just kickin' when it comes to putting paint in the stripes of the kites and such. I love them. Check out my other blog for some interesting and fun photos of Provincetown. There is no place like it. Trust me.

I love the way you captured the light in this painting. You are right, there is no place like P-Town. I make at least one visit each year there to either paint or just visit.

I love the saturated colours in this Mary, and yes, it does look like a scary thing to paint but you have pulled it off. By the way, thanks for the kind comments on my blog.

Huge fan of Ptown - actually I painted this scene with Sovek's workshop in 2004 - from the other side! And anyone who wants to see Carol Marine's paintings IRL they're at the West End Gallery in Ptown. Make it there at least TWICE a year - June & September are my favorite times.

I love this painting, Mar.... glad the brushes are doin it for you!

Hi Mary!! Love the colors in this painting. I have been having problems with some paintings lately so thanks for the help. I was looking for a 'go to' person and I think that you just volunteered!!!

Oh, Mary, this is a marvelous painting! I was surprised that I'd forgotten to add you in my sidebar but you're there now. And I'm subscribing so I won't miss a thing.

I was in Provincetown in the rain, ducking from doorway to doorway, but it was still loads of fun.

Oh, my! I can see why you've always wanted to paint the kite store. The colors are marvelous. You've captured the vibrant scene so, so well. I really love this piece!

Thank you so much for your kind comment on my blog!

Nicely done, Mary. All the complexity of houses, kites, people, etc., suggested without being labored. And the simplicity of sand and sky make just the right balance.

Mary- as said above but still valid - this is a beauty!. The richness of color and the use of medium that looks a bit fuzzied, almost like early morning haze- just wonderful.

All of it.

P town is like no other. My first vacation long ago as a single mom was to P Town with my then 8 year old son, who to this day remembers every great thing we did there.

Ooh I love this piece!

Mary, the colors are so bright, I love it! The sky and ground are beautiful together. I've never been there, but it reminds me of Kitty Hawk Kites.
