There are so many things to love about the Marshfield Fair and Horticulture Hall is one of my favorites. On a recent rainy day, a friend and I sat inside and painted this display of sunflowers. Traffic was minimal and we had the place pretty much to ourselves.
I took my butt off of the deck and went out painting in our beautiful neighborhood. Big puffy cumulus clouds filled the sky and the breeze was strong enough to keep the bugs away.
This area between the South River and the Atlantic is called Humarock and offers the best of both worlds. Sunrise over the ocean and sunset over the river.
Although I drove here, (of course with all my "stuff" I'd have to anyway) I could actually walk here through the dunes from my home beyond the distant tree line.
Most of this painting was done on site but I tweaked it a bit in the studio today. There are still lots of fabulous old cottages along this beach just begging to be painted! I'm sure I will have to oblige.
I had a great day yesterday painting at a garden tour organized to benefit theClift Rodgers Free Library, a little gem of a library/consignment shop in Marshfield Hills. I set up right under the umbrella at the refreshment table and painted the beautiful sunflowers the hostess had set there to accompany all the sugary treats. The weather couldn't have been better and the day flew by as horticulture fans roamed the grounds enjoying the flowers. Thanks to all of the generous homeowners and the organizers of the tour for the beautiful day!!
