This is my entry for Girls Just Wanna Paint.
Coast Guard Beach is a beautiful stretch of coastline on the outer Cape. High dunes covered in sea grasses slope down to the beach.
This day was windy with big surf.

Magical

Truro Full Moon
6x8 oil on panel

This month's Girls Just Wanna Paint topic is 'magical' and what is more magical than a full moon over a  Cape Cod winter marsh?
Please be sure to check out my show at Bella's restaurant which is up through January 4th.  Small 6x6 framed paintings are priced at $200. Think Christmas gifts :D

Pilgrim Monument History Lesson

It has long been believed and stated in history books that the Pilgrims first landed in Plymouth Massachusetts, however history may have left out a stop in Provincetown.  Pilgrim Monument was built to commemorate the Pilgrim's landing in Provincetown and the signing of the Mayflower Compact there. The tower is impressive and can actually be seen from here in Marshfield on clear days. The distance as the crow flies being only 17 miles. Driving distance, 97 miles. Lots of other things getting in the way of my painting including a few wipers. I just realized that I never posted this one done a few weeks ago. Jackpot!

Cape Trip and Sketches

This is Penniman House, an old sea Captain's house located in Eastham on the Cape. I stopped there on my way to Provincetown Thursday to do a few sketches on a beautiful sunny day. Such charming architecture. I'd love to live there.
Today I'm off to paint at a Garden tour in Marshfield to support the Clift Rodgers Free Library, a little gem in Marshfield Hills. Stop by if you are in the neighborhood.

Truro Dune Shack

This shot was taken in Truro last December during the first full moon of that month. The second moon was the 'blue' moon which occurred just before New Year's Eve. This is also my first nocturne. A genre that I love but have never had the knowledge to paint. Hopefully I have achieved it here. There's more subtlety going on in the color than shows here. I also made a value adjustment on the shack way on the far left where the white trim is. It looks too bright in this photo.
