Stonington Cove

Stonington Cove
12x16 oil on cradled hardboard
$650
I painted this on Sunday while the wind howled and rain and snow poured from the sky. Painting against a deadline doesn't usually produce good work but there are exceptions. I'm pretty happy with this one, which is an example of the kind of brushwork and color use that I'm trying to achieve. This painting will be in my Bella's show.
On a different note, my hubby had a small natural gas "wood" stove installed in our living room last week as a backup in the case of power outages. Wouldn't you know we were out for an hour Saturday night and I was unusually calm, cool and collected. We weren't out long enough for the house to get too cold but it was nice to know that if it did we could be fairly comfortable for a while.

I'm surprised to feel such calm from this, given the conditions in which you created it. Calm is nice.

Love the complementary colors and the range of colors you make from them.
Oh, how I would love to have an alternative source of heat! Not such a necessity here in South Jersey ... but when the electric goes off, it gets real cold real quick!

Good morning Mary!... This November gem... simply sailed right into my heart! What a magnificent... painterly tribute to November painting!

Let the snow be flung! Let the winds howl! When you paint from the heart... as you do... joy becomes a state of mind and it can override the winter blues!

One of my favourites Mary!

Good Painting... and cuddlin' next to that new fireplace!
Warmest regards,
Bruce

Now you are prepared for anything! Watch - we won't have an outage this year!

This painting is stunning in the extreme. So very thrilled for you. Can't wait to see it in person.

Hello Mary, I love your painting. We've seen several sunsets lately that look very similar. They all happened when the sun peeked out, after it rained all day, just in time for sunset. I hope you don't just use your new stove when the power goes out, but test it from time to time just for the coziness effect. :)

I think this is very successful. It "glitters". We have both a wood stove and a gas "woodstove" and can't imagine not having some heat source when the power goes out. Happy painting Mary!

Wonderful painting. Love the colors and shapes. You inspire me to quit dithering and just paint. We have a lovely little wood stove in my art room. If we get "snowed" out, we can set up camp down there (staying warm, boiling tea, keeping the toilet from freezing) until the power comes back!
