Angel Foods

"Angel Foods"
12x12 oil on birch panel

Provincetown has always been a special place to me. Located at the very tip of Cape Cod and surrounded by dunes and water, its natural beauty and shimmering light have long attracted artists and seekers of nature.
My sister and her family lived there during the late 70's and early 80's and I have always found everything about this town, enchanting.
visit regularly to paint and enjoy and to participate, in PAAM's member's shows and events. This is my submission to their annual 12x12 silent auction which runs from April 25th to June 26.
"Angel Foods" is a funky market which is actually across the street from the Art Association. I always admire their front window and it seemed just the right format for my painting.

The colors remind a little of hand chalked signs you see in the fancy grocery stores.

Bonjour chère amie,
Un endroit que j'avais beaucoup aimé lorsque je m'étais rendue à Cape Cod...

Je vous souhaite de joyeuses fêtes avec de gros bisous.

For some reason, their display reminds me of old movies when stores actually did display products in their windows like this. Beautiful painting, Mary! Unfortunately, you have now made me crave Angel's Food Cake!!

Okay my Massachusetts art buddy! I so love your use of color! Always, always makes me so very happy to see your art! I so love deep greens and blues! (James Taylor, "Sweet Baby James", "Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose!" I am sure you could paint anything and it would be art worthy! Bravo Mary!
I also love Provincetown! Provincetown and Woods Hole are my two favorite Cape Cod locations! Love Provincetown when the main street is crowded!
Keep on making great art Mary!
We are so lucky to live in Massachusetts!

I was going to comment on how appealing this is, but for some unknown reason, I had to zip out to the kitchen for a snack.XX
