Girls Just Wanna Paint

It's important to note that I am not always completely successful in my paintings and I don't post any that aren't up to my standards. This is different because I'm stretching and need some feedback. I was going for that backlit, sparkly sunlit water thing and I almost wiped it.
Can You tell what's going on here?
This is my entry for Girls Just Wanna Paint.

I find it helpful to have a plan but I make it a very vague one. I love the spontaneity and excitement in all of your works.
I never know when to stop so keep on going. Maybe take a break on this one. Start another and then come back to it? Whatever you do have fun and enjoy the process.
Your art buddy,
Michael

I saw the shimmer in the thumbnail, but didn't see it in closeup..

I see two in a canoe in the water, Mary. One of my issues with more abstract works of art is that I rarely see whatever the artist intended. That said, I see the glitter of sunlight on the water with the white brushstrokes.

Thank YOU!

I am loving that this is engaging everyone.
I also want to say that when I ask you for feedback, I really mean it :D

It definitely sparkles and I love it! I just saw a seascape from Van Gogh this morning which I love and this kind of reminds me of it. All the colors and brush strokes are wonderful.

I think perspective is key with this piece. I initially felt a bit overwhelmed by it, but when I stood back a few feet, it became familiar and inviting.
