Sunflower in a Jar

"Sunflower in a Jar"
6x6 oil on board
I'm on a roll with the flowers but I will say that I scraped this entirely and began again. Scraped that one and began this one. Wasn't sure if it was a keeper or not but I posted it anyway. There's actually a point when you're too close to the forest to see the trees. I've learned that I am not the best judge of my paintings and no matter how I feel about them, one way or the other, I am not the viewer.

Pour débuter la matinée rien de mieux que ce merveilleux tournesol... Il illumine mon regard.

I can sure identify with your thought for the day on this one! Some days I feel like I've forgotten how to paint.

This is lovely, though!

You've captured the light reflections in the water so beautifully! I think this is gorgeous!

Lovely, lovely! The oranges really look great against that dark background. Love the darks in the flower center and the water too. Nice job!

All 3 of your flower paintings are just lovely! Those colors are perfect.

Oh jeez... compared to what? As a viewer, I must say this is a pleasure to look at. As a painter, I know viewers generally like the painting better than the doer.

These little flowers are BIG with in your face attitude. Interesting comment about the painter not being the viewer,I know how it's impossible to be objective about our own work.

this has such a great graphic quality to it! the flower really pops against that dark background and the jar is wonderful in and of itself. I understand about the judging of your own paintings...I always find that the ones I'm not really crazy about are the ones that everyone likes the best and the ones I love .... well, I seem to be the only one who does!
