Sutton Place Cottages and Sedona

I am scurrying to get ready to fly to Sedona on Friday and have been cleaning and tossing and doing laundry and actually....painting! I also happened upon Karen Werner's blog and got a right on weather report for Sedona. She just took a workshop there with Jennifer McChristian (on my bucket list) and they were caught in a sleet storm with 40 degree temperatures!!
Ok, pack for New England summer weather. that means warm clothes TOO!
This watercolor is of Sutton Place cottages in Truro. Adorable one room places right on the beach. To die for!

I have to say that I'm working with my scanner (little experience here) instead of photographing these watercolors. I just realized that most of the blue in the sky is missing, maybe because of the bright light?
Any suggestions or comments on this issue?
The paintings ALWAYS look better in 'the real.
Thanks for all of your visits and comments which make my day!

MARY,
This is an absolute jewel of a painting. The best and a favorite. Adore the colors and love the line detail I see against the gorgeous colors. Great composition and just wow!
Have fun in Sedona- I know y'all will have a blast!! Paint on:)

Wow! Mary! I have been away too long! I'm loving these new watercolors (with ink? Pitt pen?) I'll have to go back and look in more detail. Have great fun in Sedona!

Mary, I LOVE these watercolors, especially this one of the cottages ... the colors and subject matter, right up my alley! This one evokes that charming, breezy summer feel ... beautiful! If you're losing some color in the brightness of the scan, when the scanning window comes up on your monitor there should be a place where you can adjust the contrast. You might try lowering the contrast just a bit. Then you might have to heighten the color saturation just a tiny bit. You can experiment to see what gets the picture on your computer closest to the real thing, and I find that a scan works better than a photo, but you're right ... NOTHING beats seeing the art in person!

Beautiful painting! Those are our family owned cottages.. I lived and ran the places for six years. Sadly, they are being sold by the family.

Brings back a lot of good memories.
