Snowed In

Virginia Sunset
We awoke to snow Sunday morning and our plan to leave early ended up being 8 am. But can I just say that my hyper-hubby was really cool about it? After a beautiful sunny drive we pulled into our fabulous pet friendly Best Western in  Fredricksburg, Virgina and had our Gerard Farms turkey sandwiches for supper. Woke up early today ready to make Brunswick, Georgia. All went well until around mile 280 of the drive when the snow began to spit and suddenly the road was covered with three inches of snow with cars skidding and sliding. I was on the phone in a flash and got us a room at the BW in Lumberton. We checked in at 12:30. Thank Heaven because North Carolina is shut down. They have one snowplow and they don't use salt. The parking lot is rutted with frozen ice and we are hunkered down until this weather clears. Seriously, snowed in in North Carolina?
Since I don't have a painting for you let me share the work of Robin J. Mitchell a fellow member of Fresh Paint Daily Painters.

Hey Mary! Hopefully you are either on the road again or about to be. We got snow here in Memphis too but despite the cold temps, things are running pretty smooth again. Safe travels!

That's what you get Mary, for trying to escape the snow. We're getting that storm tonight and tomorrow! The 'girls' look happy in BW! Stay safe, and know that New england misses you...

Mary,
I grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee where we shared a snowplow with Knoxville and Nashville because if there were ever so much as a few flurries, the teachers allowed us to stop class and go outside. It was that rare. I guess those days are over, huh?
Good luck with the rest of your trip--hope it will be a fun adventure for all of you.

My daughter said she thinks it's snowing everywhere but here in south Florida. Be careful as you travel again!

As a newcomer to your blog, I have to say what little beauties your cats are! And your work, too... Love the loose, juicy style!

Brrr. It has been cold here, too. Today is a bit warmer, 47, but wet out. Not enough rain to help the trees, just to be wet and unomfortable. Sigh.... Hope you make it fine and have a great time on the beach!

Oh I do hope you are snowed OUT now!!! Hee Hee! The snow has thawed here in the UK to be replaced with torrential rain and wind. I wish I was on a beach like your painting in the previous post. The colours are so warm, its a gorgeous painting............

Your pussycats are beautiful, they look very cosy together. X

P.S. Thanks so much for your lovely comment about my blog, you are too kind. X

Hi, Mary, I'm a little late commenting on this, I know, but like Kelley says, that's what you get for trying to escape the snow by heading south! Surprise, surprise!

I LOVE the "Can we PLEASE go home now" looks on your beautiful kitties' faces. They do look nice and cozy, though. I'm glad to see from later posts that you did finally make it to your destination safely!
