Chinatown, Boston pen ink and watercolor
I have two things going here. I'm using the sketch book to hone my drawing skills. There are no short cuts there. This drawing is from a Google Earth street view of a Chinatown street in Boston which is this month's subject of Bill Guffey's Virtual Paintout. I also broke out my sweet little 6x6 pochade box and began a painting of clothes pins which is some what in need of a tweak before I post the final version. This little box is the proto-type and will be refined to include a slide out palette. Email jfinbar@comcast.net for info on it and others like it.

Great pen and ink Mary! I just found the Google paint out website and will probably give that a try next month. I love the depth that shows in this with the foreground, middle, and background buildings.
Hi, Mary. Your work is so FUN. (Reminds me of a friend's work who lives in the Bay Area of CA. You're very versatile, and you have pieces that are equally dynamic and expressive in all the mediums you seem to try. Really like your Boston post from today and also "Beach Umbrella," "Just Sketching" and "Happy New Year." Glad to know you're out there.

Delightful pen & ink! I just love it!
I'm really enjoying your sketches.
Wonderful sketch. Love that 6 x 6 inch box...that would definately help me keep it simple. I tend to "overpack" for onsite work.
Nice strong colors, and great composition.
NICE Mary!!! I like how loose you sketch and paint.
Lovely composition, colourful without being gaudy, love it. Gorgeous cats too, how cute they look snuggled up together X
love it, love it,love it. and they're growing up! lookin like teenagers/hangin. :D

Loving the sketches! And the use of Google Earth to "travel" (funny, you went "home", lol). Great little box! Imagine it's quite a handy tool for work and transport. Last but not least, lovin' those sweet kitties :)
