I received a beautiful bouquet of Peonies from a friend and must hasten to paint them because they don't last that long. They smell great and are one of the most beautiful of the Spring flowers and they are really, really hard to paint.
Email me if you want to buy this, I'm not listing on eBay at the moment.

Wow, I love the color in this. The bits of blue that help give the bloom dimension thrill me. I love pieces like this, painterly and expressive, yet when I remove my glasses, crisp realism emerges. Cool.
p.s. I take off my glasses to simulate a good viewing distance :)
They are hard to paint, but these this one is lovely. Like the reds and greens.
Hi Mary!... "You" are on a winning streak... great colour in this one... lovely contrast and mood in the dinghys.
"You" really dive into the subject fearlessly... and the result speaks of your certainty and the joy with which "You" paint!
Great work Mary!
Good Painting!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
Beautiful brushwork and colors in your work.
Beautiful! I love how the colors dance around the canvas and play against each other.
Mary! Peonie season is one of my favorites - ants and all...

This has all the qualities I love to see in a painting! Very inspiring work.
Mary,
This is just beautifully done. I think sometimes the urgency of the painting brings surprising results.
I hope that's clear......I find some of my best pieces are ones I haven't over thought.
You're so right: one of (to me, the) most beautiful, and so hard to paint!! Mine didn't even bloom this year--what a disappointment; how nice to have a friend who'll share hers!
