Besides my attraction to Mill Buildings in general the inspiration here is the fabulous red and green color scheme. I hope it pleases you as Qiang would say.

This image does please me! What is it about these old factory buildings? When I was much younger, I thought they were ugly, but as I grew older and noticed the huge windows and awesome space inside...then I gained appreciation of the urban exteriors...thanks for representing this one so well...I can envision what the inside appears like while looking out of the windows...
I love looking at how it develops, too! And this scene is near and dear to me. Just wondering, what IS that gray/silver bar across the bottom - it seems to be water, then there's a chimney coming out of it just off center to the left. I'm trying to picture where you were!
Kelley, that is the lower part of the building's roof line with the chimney and the windows. I wondered after I painted it if that line was bisecting the picture too much. This building is at the end of Thames Street in Bristol.

Thanks for your comments on my blog. My studio is also in an old Mill building...will post some photos on the blog later this week.

hey, these are some damn fine paintings. they have an almost cote d'azure feel to them. wonderfuly vibrant colours.
