I recognize it when it happens, so all this information is in there. It's just focusing to bring it out.

How was it different?

Well, they are both equally proficient in their way of approaching painting, but their styles are different.
Carol uses a viewfinder, and approaches her subject with a one stroke at a time going from the most saturated color and working around that using slight temperature, color and value changes in her very crisp brush strokes. She uses crisp brushes, too.
Colin was able to pull off a wonderful outdoor painting with both his canvas and palette in full sun, (which I've not successfully done as the paintings are always too dark indoors).
He seems to work more intuitively and has been painting outdoors long enough to know where he's going with the painting, right off the bat. He puts in the highlights towards the end.
His approach to still life is the same. Just sketches it in, correcting the drawing as he goes and works the whole canvas putting the lights in last. He uses bristle brushes and his brushwork is beautiful, but not as sharp edged as Carol's is.
I am still glowing with both experiences!
If you take Carol's workshop in Sedona, you'll get a double treat, as it is one of the most amazingly beautiful places you'll ever see.Mary Sheehan Winnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07739304038978908921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20375988.post-16300114397112330692009-06-18T03:47:02.157-04:002009-06-18T03:47:02.157-04:00Hi, Mary!
